Hi all; I have a visit where a patient was seen for removal of subdermal contraceptive, and was then given a prescription for oral contraceptives during the same visit. Currently the ICD codes listed are Z30.011 for the Initial Oral Prescription and Z30.46 for the Surveillance (removal) of the Subdermal, however the entire list of Z30.01- Initial Prescription codes have an Excludes1 rule for the Z30.4- Surveillance list. Any advice on how to code this? Would Z30.09 Other General Counseling and Advice be acceptable even though the oral was prescribed during the same visit?
