One of our docs gives a liquid dexamethasone sodium phosphate orally to pts. The HCPCS for injection, dexamethasone sodiums phosphate is J1100. Is it appropriate to use this HCPCS code when given orally, since I cannot seem to find an oral administration. If not, what code do you recommend?

Thank you so much for your help!!

J8540 will likely deny because it is an injection which is reported with administration code of 96372. J1100 has a different NDC - You cannot bill for a drug that was not given

would it not be correct when Dexamethasone 4mg/ml injectable supply is given in the emergency or urgent care department orally as this is the concentration and amount they want to give , correct billing would be to use J1100 as this best describes the medication used and then use H0033 to indicate the route of administration. being used for pediatric asthma
