Hi all -
our ENT/oculoplastic surgeon is planning an orbital reconstruction s/p left exoneration due to abscess & exposed bone. 2 Cultures were performed, first was positive S aureus & second said none.
provider's dx was Abscess L02.818
i queried for clarification, which ended with orbital bone necrosis with no bacterial cause.
I selected dx H05.022 (orbital osteomyelitis) - I am still new at this specialty, do I pursue the S aureus or leave it?
Thank you.
