Can 29879 be billed with 29876 without modifier 59 ?

I think this may depend on payer and of course if both services are met. There is no CCI edit for them. if they are completed in same incision use modifier 51 and RT or LT.

Have you checked the NCCI edits? From what you find out, do they hit an edit or not? That's where you need to start.

Hi, 29879 can be billed with 29876 without modifier 59 as the codes don't bundle.

Caveat coders: Only one procedure can be reported per knee compartment and 29876 must be performed in two compartments. If the chondroplasty was done in a compartment where synovectomy was not done, these codes are billable together.
