Provider dx patient with osteoarthritis of right shoulder. ICD10 book leads me to M19.011- primary osteoarthritis. Im truly confused since provider does not state primary osteoarthritis therefore Im leaning towards dx M19.90. HELP!!!!!!!!

Did the provider document anything regarding the type of OA. Such as age related, or OA with no known cause. This would be primary. M19.90 is not a valid choice since he did specify the site. Just take the document back to the provider and tell him he needs to document if the is any known cause for the OA or is the cause unknown. If there is no known cause then it is primary.
