My Dr. removed a tibia benign bone cyst and he wants to bill 27638.( 27638 Excision or curettage of bone cyst or benign tumor, tibia or fibula; with allograft ) He used Osteocrete to fill in the defect. OsteoCrete, a magnesium-based bone void filler, is designed to assist with bone repair and regeneration. It is the first device of its kind in the orthopedic market with 510(k) approval from the FDA, according to a release.

So would 27638 be appropriate? Although, OsteoCrete is not a tissue graft from a donor of the same species as the recipient but not genetically identical.

Has anyone ever billed for the use of OsteoCrete?
Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks
