We had a patient who was scheduled to have an outpatient surgery while doing the surgery she needed her appendix removed a provider was called to assist, then patient stayed at the hospital over night will the primary surgery change from 22 to 21 ? The provider indicated patient was admitted for post surgery status to the gyn floor planning a discharge next morning.

You will need to obtain clarification as to whether this is an observation admit or inpatient admit. It sounds like observation but without more information it is hard to tell. Observation is outpatient, unless there was something seriously wrong post surgery this would not meet inpatient criteria for inpatient status. However it just depends on the documentation.

Thank you so much, there is no indications of any post surgery problems, just that she was admitted to the GYN floor and was discharge 26 hours later with no indication of complication at all.

The hospital in all likelihood would go with observation but call the facility to be sure. It all very much depends on how the physician ordered it in the facility chart notes. Even if the provider did not order observation status, the facility may, after review, request the provider write an order to convert to observation status.
