Hello. a pregnant mom presents for contractions...she is put on a fetal monitor (NST), given betamethasone injection and has a vaginal screening or evaluation to check for dialation, maybe some labs, she stays for a few hours for monitoring. how would this be coded? Little debate on how we are doing it now and what it probably should be going forward. Thanks!
 
Maternity oupatient billing

We are currently billing 59025 for the NST, and then the old observation codes 99234 for the 4 hours of observation or what the unit declares observation. sorry about that
