Wiki outpt surgery question. 59160?

Need help coding and explaining to physician the cpt code he is dropping for procedure which is cpt code 59160. Patient had a D&C for early pregnancy loss with retained products of conception. 　She D&C completed with 10mm suction curettage. I believe 59160 does not support the procedure as patient was 7 weeks pregnant. Thank you

59160 is for postpartum curettage and is clearly the incorrect code for this service.
Take a look at
59812 Treatment of incomplete abortion, any trimester, completed surgically
59820 Treatment of missed abortion, completed surgically; first trimester

Please note incomplete abortion or missed abortion is a miscarriage, and distinctly different than an induced abortion.
In an incomplete abortion, the patient has already passed some tissue on her own. For missed abortion, the patient has not already passed tissue.
