here's our scenario:

pt seen in office on 12/1 by provider A as a consultation for the first time. at the end of the visit the provider has decided to admit the patient. 12/2 provider b sees pt and writes and h&p.

are we able to bill for the OV consult for provider A for 12/1 and bill for the h&p by provider B on 12/2?

p.s. both provider A and B are from the same specialty
thanks

Doctor A never saw pt in hospital?

So Doctor A, who saw patient as a consult in the office, never saw the patient in the hospital that same day? Nor did anyone from the practice?

OV or consult for A

The date of service is the date the patient was actually seen.

I'd code the OV for Dr A on Dec 1, and the Initial hospital visit for Dr B on Dec 2.
