I am looking for clarification for CPT code P9020 - Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) (also known as conditioned plasma) is whole blood with the red blood cells removed through a process called centrifugation. Is this a product in which one would receive from a blood bank or could this be used by a physician who aspirates the bone marrow and centrifuges the collection himself to be used in a PRP injection.

Is there a condition to who can bill this CPT code as well i.e. inpatient vs outpatient?

Thank you in advanced.

Robyne
