Wiki PA assisting with surgery

I am hopeful what I want is somewhere in writing but I have not been able to locate it as yet this morning. Does anyone have the documentation guidelines/requirements for billing a PA assisting in surgery?

Not sure what your looking for but here's a guide to start off with. Look at page 18. It also provides the link to determine whether or not a procedure warrants the assistant of a PA.

I am looking for guidelines on what has to be documented in the op note to support billing for the assist.

Ahhh...gotcha.

Great article in the Coding Edge January 2008...page 38. We follow these recommendations and have had little/no grief from the carriers when they request our op notes.
