Please clarify my confusion.
ICD-10 guidelines for pain management indicate to use the G89- code followed by site specific pain code and confirmed condition. If the pain is not specified as acute or chronic don't use the G89-.
Does the site specific pain code come first or is that eliminated because the type of pain (acute/chronic) is not specified?
Example:
Intralaminal epidural injection L4-L-5
M54.50 lower back pain, unspecified
M48.06 Spinal stenosis, lumbar
Thank you!
