I work at an Ambulatory Surgery Center and wanted to know if someone could help me with a question regarding pain pumps. We have a doctor who likes to implant pain pumps for post surgical pain and depending on the insurance company we can get reimbursement for the pain pump. However, we do not code for the insertion of the pain pump. Should we code for surigcally implanted pain pumps for post operative pain? If so, what code should be used?
