I am confused over Pap smear coding.
Can anyone tell me, when there is just a V72.31( normal Gyn Exam) , can the lab run HPV test ? Or do we need a code like V73.81 ( special HPV screening) in addition to the above code in order to justify the 87621 , in cases of Routine exam ?
Does V72.31 include HPV testing too ? I do not think so .
