I'm new to ED coding and I have heard that we can not use past history for DX. So I just want to double check and see if this is correct..

You cannot use past hx as a primary dx. Hx only reported if pertinent to the encounter. You should have a Chief complaint or you can refer to signs and symptoms. Hope this helps.
