Hello-

I understand the use of modifier 25.

My question is... When the patient comes in at the 24-hour/48-hour mark and the physician looks under the patch and instructs the patient to come back for the final read, am I correct that we do not bill an E/M. However, If there is more to the visit such as issues not pertaining to the patch test, other recommendations given, and exam of other body parts, can we then use the modifier 25 with the E/M code?

Example: This would NOT be billable

Patch test 24 hour reading.. vitals, exam on four organ systems, no additional issues or HPI, recommendation only to return tomorrow for final read.

Thank you for any input!
