Wiki Path CPT and ICD9 coding

Dear Colleagues,

It has been some time I've coded path and lab and I wanted to double check.

Could you please help me with the following scenario?
What woud be CPT and ICD9 codes?

Tissue Type:
Induced Sputum

Gross Description:
Induced Sputum: Received 2 cc of mucinous material. Two smears and cell block prepared with concentration technique.

Micro Description:
The smears and cell block demonstrate epithelial cells from the lower respiratory tract with some macrophages and few inflammatory cells, mostly neurotrophils. No malignant cells are seen.

Dx:
Induced sputum: no malignant cells seen.

Hello,

CPT : 88108 for smear prep with concentration techinque & 88305 for cell block prep.

ICD : 786.4

I disagree with the dx of 786.4. There is nothing that says this is abnormal. You will need to query the physician to get the dx for the indication for the test. Or look at the original order for the test.
