How many coders bill out surgeries before receiving the pathology report?
 
Depends on the surgery

Well, that depends on the surgery, doesn't it?

If you aren't removing tissue and sending it to pathology you'll be waiting a LONG time for a path report.

Even if you are removing tissue and sending to pathology you do NOT always have to wait for the path report. I'm thinking of all the appendectomies that we would delay coding if we waited for pathology.
