We are currently bringing our collections back "in house." Are there any restrictions on collecting patient balances in the office setting vs a collection agency? We are not a collection agency, we only are trying to collect our own debt. As much as I've read, the Fair Debt Collections Act only puts limitations on the third party agencies and not providers' offices. Thanks!

I would suggest getting advice from your malpractice company.
