Our Chiropractic office does a lot of reactive glucose questionnaires and educating our patients on this as well as diet and certain supplements. The Doctor is wanting to know if we can bill for this education. I looked at the code series 994xx and 98960 depending on if he is personally educating the patients or having his staff do the counseling. Would these be appropriate to use in this circumstance, and has anyone done this and had success in getting them paid? Are these codes covered by Medicare?

Under Medicare, manual manipulation for subluxation of the spine is the only covered service.

You would also need to see if it falls under the scope of practice in your state. Plus you would want to check with any of your national contracts such as ASHN to see if they even reimburse.
