Does anyone know if we can legally bill the insurance company if we do not have the signed patient information sheets on file. We have a situation where a patient was seen in the hospital by one of our physicians. We mailed out the patient information sheets to the patient, but have not received them back. Is it okay to bill the insurance? Thank you.

I am not sure why you would need that to bill?????? We see patients all the time at the hospital and bill for those services since we have documentation to prove that we provided the service. Plus the hospital should have had the patient sign that they know that they are responsible for ALL bills including physicians regardless of insurance coverage. Hope this helps :)
