Patient providing correct insurance after timely filing

Good morning,

I am trying to implement a policy in our practice regarding patients providing the correct insurance after timely filing has been reached. If we have the patient sign something agreeing that we will not file these claims; is that legal/compliant? How are you handling this? I do not want to go down the appeal road because in my experience it rarely works with our payers and is a waste of time.
