I have a PDX question:

IF you have a CAUTI linked to Sepsis, and both POA, would you sequence sepsis or CAUTI as pdx???

All help will be gratefully appreciated.

If you read the ICD-10 coding guidelines you will see that external cause codes cannot be a PDx. They are not a condition, illness, injury etc so in your example of Y04 the assault is not a condition - it is the cause of a condition.
Hope that makes sense but please read the guidelines.
