I am new to pediatric coding and need some E & M help. When the newborn is admitted to the hospital after delivery the 99460 is used and the 99462 for subsequent visits. If the physician sees the newborn on day 2 for problem and the 99356 prolonged visit add on code is used do you have a primary code of 99462 or do you use the initial or subsequent visit hospital codes 99221-99223 or 99231-99233. Any help would be appriciated. Also is there any websites that can help with pediatric coding issues.

Subsequent Hospital Visit

If the visit on day 2 is a problem-focused visit, then you will use the subsequent hospital visit codes.
