Hi - I have a question to anyone in the arena that might be able to help. We had a patient present to the ER and our ER docs did a plain film of the penis. (Please don't ask you, you don't want to know...:D ) How should I code this? I am thinking unlisted, however my manager doesn't want to jump through those hoops. She feels a plain pelvis with a 52 modifier.

what can you offer us?

NOT my area of expertise, but ...

I'd go with unlisted. I think the pelvis film would include much more than just the appendage, so I wouldn't be comfortable coding it, even with the -52 modifier.

I know unlisted codes are a pain, but I really think that's what you need in this case.
