Ultrasound guidance was then used to confirm needle placement for percutaneous needle tenotomy: A 12 MHz probe on GE Logiq e ultrasound machine was used to identify the greater trochanteric and gluteus medius insertion; needle visualization was maintained throughout the procedure and images confirming proper needle placement were captured and stored. Multiple in-plane fenestrations of the tendon origin (over 50) were performed using a 20 Ga, 3.5" needle. Patient tolerated the procedure well, and there were no immediate complications.
