Wiki Perforated Appendix with Large Abscess Cavity

Doc did an exploratory laparotomy and drainage of an abscess cavity with placement of a closed suction drain. The appendix was not removed. This is a child of 8 yrs. I am thinking 44960 51 53. I see that according to CCI edits I cannot use 49000. 6 days later Doc removed the closed suction drain. Can this be coded with the 78 modifier? I can not use 49020 as this states does not apply to the abscess of the appendix. Thanks in advance.
