Right buttock region is prepped and draped using sterile technique. Approximately 15 mL of 1% buffered lidocaine is injected for local anesthetic. Using CT guidance with a 17-gauge introducer needle and 18 G core needle, 4 samples are obtained.


CT images are captured and stored.

Successful image guided core biopsy of right perineal mass.

I would code 56605, 56606-59 x 3.

Units?

I think this could be coded just as 56605 as they have biopsied the same lesion multiple times and 56606 is for additional LESIONS.

You are right, I overlooked the very important word "lesion". I agree that the only code should be 56605.
