A patient jumped into someone's car as they were driving away in order to prevent them from stealing their wallet. The patient was dragged while retrieving his wallet and was seen for abrasions to bilateral knees. Coding the abrasion is easy but I'm having some difficulty finding a code that fits this external cause. Y03.0XXA 'Assault by being hit or run over by motor vehicle' doesn't really fit this situation because the patient wasn't hit or run over. V00.00XA 'Pedestrian on foot injured in collision with car' doesn't really fit either. Any suggestion on how you would code this?
