Wiki Pessary

When a patient is getting a pessary, the actual device must be in hand to bill the 57160 fitting code, yes? Or if the patient is sized and the pessary is ordered, can you bill the fitting code?

Also, anyone have issues getting reimbursed for the actual device itself? Just wondering.

I was always told to bill the 57160 when the Pessary is actually in hand and is dispensed- along with the code for the Pessary itself. I am not sure about any issues with reimbursement for the pessary itself, but it is appropriate to bill for it when it is dispensed to the patient.

That's what I thought was that it had to be in hand to bill fitting, it kind of seemed that way by how the code read.
