Does anyone bill for a psychiatrist that sees patients in a psychiatric facility under the partial hospitalization (PHP) or intensive outpatient programs (IOP)?? I am trying to determine what codes are appropriate to bill for these programs. Our local Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans will not accept inpatient codes for these programs (99221-99223 and 99231-99233 and 99238-99239) because these are considered outpatient programs. He sometimes uses 90801 and 90862 but does not provide enough psychotherapy to bill codes (90804-90809) and (90816-90822). What outpatient codes would be billable in these cases????
