Our providers utilize aides to help with therapeutic exercises. We know we can't bill for the time of the aid, but I was wondering if we can still count that time in the total time for the 8 Minute Rule in determining the max number of units allowed?

Healthcare fraud investigator here. The CPT code AND units, have to be supported by the documentation, for the servicing (or rendering) provider on the claim form. If you can't bill for the time of the aid, and you can't since they are not licensed, you can't use that time to calculate units. Units are elevating total charges, or payments, to the (licensed) provider filing the claim and signing the documentation.
