Does anyone know how many times the code 97001 Physical therapy evaluation can be billed & paid annually? Do insurances vary on the no. of times 97001 can be billed during a year?

Hi there,

Usually (check with your carrier) 97001 can be charged once for every NEW problem. If it's an exacerbation of a chronic problem and the patient is established with you, then it's a 97002. However, like I said check with your carrier.
