When a biofeedback unit is used during therapeutic exercises at a physical therapy session, can you code both 97110 (therapeutic exercises) and 90901 (biofeedback, any modality)?

Biofeedback

Hello there:

Yes, these can be billed at the same time. You know how they say, billing and coding generally have some differences... well... in the world of billing, a 59 modifier needs to be on any of the NON-biofeedback codes, in your example 97110. Payers will deny without that.

Hope that helps... :D

90901 Bio FeedBack

Physical Therapy:
Anyone else having problems with Biofeedback 90901 or 90911 paying with other codes when using the 59 modifier on the (NON-Biofeedback code)?
For example the payors only paying for one of the codes even with the 59 modifer.
Also - 90911 is Non-Timed, 90901 is Timed.
My question is I have seen some documentation that 90901 was changed in mid-2011.
Does anyone else know about that?
Thank you for your time and input.

90901

Can someone tell me where it is documented that 90901 is a timed code? I have searched high and low and have been unable to find this.

TIA!
