Patient came in and PT billed out 97001(PT evaluation). A couple months later patient was discahrged from physical therapy. Four months after the initial evaluation patient was refered back over for the same problem.

When the patient was refered back our PT practice billed 97002(re-evaluation) which was denied as it was withen 6 months of the initial evaluation. Should we be billing out 97001 since the patient was discahrged and had to come back or 97002?

Im not very familiar with PT and their rules and was asked this question. Can anyone help?
