Wiki Physical Therapy Initial Evaluations and Performing TX on the Same Day?

Hi All,


Looking for some guidance. When performing an PT Initial Evaluation 97001 is the physical therapist allowed to perform medically necessary treatments on same day as initial evaluation, specifically codes such as 97140, 97110 and 97112. Without sign off from the primary/referring physician on the plan of care?





I searched these codes under NCCI edits and there is nothing, that states these codes cannot be coded together.

Did you ever find out the answer? We're dealing with some denials for a new client and trying to navigate the best way to resolve it. I'm looking at modifier 59 on the TX service when billed at the time of Eval.
For example 97164, 97113-59

Do you use modifier GP on PT codes?
