Has anyone heard if HCPCS will be publishing a modifier specific to physician assistant services? Currently, -SA exists for Nurse Practitioners rendering services in collaboration with a physician but there is not a modifier specific to physician assistants who are working in the same manner. This is not related to surgical assist as modifiers already exist.

Physicians and non-physician practitioners are generally identified by their NPI number. I would not report the SA modifier to Medicare as it is not covered or valid by Medicare.
