One of our practices has its own ambulatory surgery center. If the surgery center is not contracted with a patient's insurance plan, then the surgery center bills the practice and the practice bills the procedure to insurance. They are using POS 11 when billing the physician claim because the surgery center will not be billing insurance, but it is my understanding that they still have to use POS 24. Can you please confirm that POS 24 is the correct POS or can the practice use POS 11 for the physician charges since their ambulatory surgery center is not filing a claim to insurance?
