I work for a physician who is in the process of opening a additional location and adding 2 other physicians to the practice. One of our staff members was told that we could bill the new physicians under the current since he will be the Medical Director. I've always been told that billing one physician under another isn't allowed in any circumstance. Would anyone have any knowledge in this?

Thank you!

You are correct. We had a similar situation with a client of ours. You cannot use another physician as a physician extender, which is what you would be doing. If you research nurse practitioner/physician's assistant/physician extenders on the CMS website, you should find documentation there to support your position.
