Hello,

If the patient has multiple fingers (PIP dislocation) reduced, same hand, would CPT 26770 be appropriate along with utilizing the digit modifiers or would 26725 apply in this case? I appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
26770 with the digit mods
since PIP is proximal interphalangeal you would search code by site

26725 is for shaft (of proximal phalanx or middle phalanx)
I do see what you are saying but to me the IPJ's per anatomy chart is the middle bone of finger and the proximal (shaft) is the third bone just above metacarpals.
If the dx is say fx of shaft of 1st digit IP or shaft of 1st digit PIP then I would code the 26725
Just depends on documentation. Hope this helps:)

Hello,

I did end up going with my train of thought and what was documented which was the 26770 utilizing the digit modifiers due to the PIP joint is what was documented but there was a difference of opinions among some of my co-workers so I thought I would post here to get other thoughts on the matter. Thank you for your response! :)
