Wiki Place of Service Code 83

Hi- could someone explain what type of facility would qualify for code 83 as the place of service code when all the info I am seeing says "unassigned"? TIA

As of my knowledge, POS 83 was introduced by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), but it’s one of those codes that’s been reserved—a.k.a. it’s like a parking spot with a “coming soon” sign on it. So, You’re not supposed to be using it yet, because CMS hasn’t publicly defined what facility type it will represent.

Hi there, here is the complete list of POS codes. https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coding-billing/place-of-service-codes/code-sets

Note that there are several ranges that are listed as Unassigned, including 82-98. As noted above, you can't report an unassigned code, it doesn't mean anything.
