Should all splints be billed as place of service #12 (Home)?

Where is the splint being applied? That's what the place of service should represent. Could be the ER, could be the provider's office, or even somewhere else - just depends on the location where the splinting is being performed.

I'm guessing the provider isn't doing a lot of splints in the patient's home, so it's unlikely that POS 12 would be used routinely.

I guess I should ask - are you talking about billing for the application of the splint, or for the splint itself?
