Good Morning,

I'm looking for some help on coding the following procedure:

Placement of right sided tissue expander in a patient who is 15 yo. due to right breast hypoplasia. Patient is not having breast reconstruction at this time and is not having a mastectomy. Tissue expander will be placed now and then the patient will return at age 18 for permanent implant. Any help is appreciated.

I have looked at CPT 19342, 19324, and 11970 and none of those seem appropriate.

Thank you,

Patti Sandlin, CPC

19325

Did you consider 19325? If I understand correctly, this is basically breast augmentation due to right breast hypoplasia. She won't have definitive surgery for a couple of years. Perhaps you should use 19325 but with a -52 modifier, if the surgeon is not doing everything required for 19325?

Hope that helps.
