I am new to psych coding and am currently auditing our docotrs for correct coding and documentation. I am very confused about when my doctors would use codes 90791 and 90792 as opposed to a consult code or initial inpatient code. Could someone explain to me what the purpose of these codes is, when they should be used and what type of documentation is needed to support using them.
If there is any printed information that describes how and when to use these codes I would appreciate those sources also.
