Point of Care FAST ultrasounds

I have been asked if all ultrasounds need an order before performing the service, which I said yes however. they were wondering, if they are performing an emergent ultrasound, does the order need to preceed the ultraound. Can not find this in writing but to me in a emergent situation I would think you could put in the order afterwards. Would love feedback.
