I am a cardiology coder who was handed a small podiatry office. I am so confused right now. I need to code a debridement of a Porokeratoma of the toe. This is not deep and he did use a blade. I have already asked three different podiatry coders and they all gave me different codes. They are 11420, 11042 and 97597. Which one is the correct code for this procedure? Please help!

Depends on what the documentation says. My doctors will do a "shave excision" for porokeratosis, 11305-11308. 97597 is strictly for wound care "to remove devitalized and/or necrotic tissue and promote healing".
