I'm just learning about SNF coding. Can anyone help explain differences in POS 31 vs 33?

33=Typically, custodial care is non-medical care that helps individuals with his or her activities of daily living, preparation of special diets and self-administration of medication not requiring constant attention of medical personnel.

Whereas....

31=A facility which primarily provides inpatient skilled nursing care and related services to patients who require medical, nursing, or rehabilitative services but does not provide the level of care or treatment available in a hospital.

Does that help?
