I hope I can get some input. A 64 y.o. pt. came in for colonoscopy due to positive cologuard test from PCP. Patients mother had a history of colon polyps in her 60's and colitis.
Is this still a screening? Not a Medicare patient, commercial insurance.

But the patient has a family history of colon polyps (mother) and Cologuard is only for Average Risk - no symptoms no personal or family histories.

This is patient's first colonoscopy, however, her mother had a history of colon polyps...diagnosed in her 60's. Billing guideline's say cologuard for patient's that are average risk..
