Does anybody know if we'e allowed to charge pts. for co-payments on their post op visits? Im having a discussion with our HMO biller over this subject...I dont think we're supposed to charge. Please share your HMO knowledge with me. Thank you
 
No, you don't charge for post op visits, this includes co-payments. It is bundled in to the surgery. They only way to collect on a post op visit is if the patient came in for something other than the surgery post op. (ex. post op period is from surgery for bunion and pt came in for tennis elbow probs).
